Who we are

Nicago (nicago.com) is operated by Jeffbuilds, based in Canada. We provide information, introductions, and consulting services for people considering a move to Nicaragua. This page explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it, as well as our commitment to web accessibility.

What we collect and why

Information you give us

When you fill in our contact or lead form, we collect your name, email address, and any details you include in your message. We use this to respond to your enquiry and, if you agree, to send you relevant updates. We do not sell this information or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider (Vercel) logs standard server data including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This is used to keep the site running and to understand aggregate traffic. It is not linked to your identity.

We do not currently run third-party analytics such as Google Analytics. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any tracking begins.

Cookies

Nicago sets only the cookies necessary to make the site function. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we store and protect your data

Form submissions are stored in Supabase, a cloud database provider (SOC 2 Type II certified) with servers in the United States. Data in transit is encrypted via TLS. We retain contact enquiries for up to two years, then delete them unless an ongoing relationship requires otherwise.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. This includes rights under the GDPR (EEA), PIPEDA (Canada), and CCPA (California). To make a request, email hello@nicago.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Third-party services

  • Vercel — hosting. Privacy policy
  • Supabase — form storage. Privacy policy
  • Unsplash and Pexels — stock photography served from their CDNs, which may log your IP when loading images.

Links and children

Once you leave Nicago via an external link, this policy no longer applies. Nicago is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Accessibility

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Here is what we have done and what we know still needs work.

What works

  • All images have descriptive alt text or are marked decorative.
  • The site is keyboard-navigable with visible focus states throughout.
  • Colour contrast meets AA minimums for body and large text.
  • Headings follow a logical order to support screen readers.
  • Buttons, links, and form fields have descriptive accessible names.
  • Page language is declared (lang="en").
  • Most animations respect prefers-reduced-motion.

Known gaps

  • The place-name ticker does not fully stop under reduced-motion. A pause control is planned.
  • Embedded YouTube videos in guide posts may lack captions outside our control.
  • The property gallery lightbox does not fully manage focus on open. We plan to fix this.

Found a barrier? Email hello@nicago.com with the page URL and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within five business days.
